Through the first two weeks of the 2025 NFL season, the Green Bay Packers looked like they were going to have a top-five offense in the league, if not better.
Jordan Love was confident and in control, guiding the Packers to relatively easy wins over the Detroit Lions and Washington Commanders.
While he hasn’t stopped looking confident in the past two games, the Packers’ offense hasn’t been quite as dominant, and writer Felipe Reis Aceti showcased one of the potential reasons for that on X.
He noted that Love’s average depth of target was 12.9 in the first two weeks, but it substantially dropped to 3.8 over the past two games.

This is an indication that Matt LaFleur’s game plan has changed for Love, being more conservative with his passes rather than airing it out.
Love has done well with the deep ball in his career to this point, but if it’s not in the game plan, it’s hard for him to go off-script and dial it up on his own accord.
It was working in the first two games of the season, and as Aceti implied, why fix what isn’t broken?
The Packers have plenty of time during the bye week to get their offense right, hoping to head into the final three quarters of the season with a better game plan.
If they stay stagnant, and Love takes fewer shots downfield for the rest of the season, the Packers could find themselves in a tough spot, especially against teams that have high-flying offenses.
